The skid rail and steel slab sliding guides of pusher-type heating furnace or walking beam heating furnace need to be made by abrasion resistant and high temperature resistant materials. For this purpose, corundum-chrome-zirconia castable has been developed and made into precast shapes and then fired at high temperature. The products are featured by high strength, high density, good thermal shock resistance and excellent abrasion resistance in particular. After being applied in more than 50 domestic steel plants, they have shown much increased service lives, twice or more of that by fusion cast corundum-zirconia and mullite-zirconia blocks. They are of ideal products as alternatives of heat resisting casting parts and fusion cast corundum-zirconia blocks as skid rail and platform brick.
