Pre-cast shapes for EAF roofs have been
developed to prolong the service life. They are high alumina based, corundum
based and corundum-chrome based. They are featured by easy installation, good
integrity, good resistance to arc radiation attack and good thermal shock
resistance, compared with brick linings. Better service performance may be
achieved by preheating them at 400~600℃. When electrode
loop is made of corundum-chrome castable, good resistance to arc radiation
attack and long service life can be achieved. The service life of high alumina pre-cast
shapes of EAF roof can reach 80~110 heats, while the
service life of corundum based one used in a 70t DC EAF of a domestic steel
plant reached160~220 heats.
Dry ramming mixes made of synthesized MgO-CaO-Fe2O3 clinker are used in
EAF hearth and slope, whose composition and particle size distribution can be
adjusted and optimized according to specific application conditions. The product
is featured by good sterility, slag resistance and impact resistance.
